Treatment for Vertigo

Vertigo is a very common problem among people today. Though common, it is debilitating and it is hard to shake it off because our very brains are the ones affected by this problem. It is known to be the feeling or sensation that you or your surroundings are moving or spinning. It is not just your usual dizziness as vertigo is far more complex than that. Vertigo actually gives you the illusion of movement. If you feel as though you yourself are in motion, then you are experiencing subjective vertigo. Alternatively, when you are feeling that your environment is the one in motion, you are experiencing objective vertigo.

WHEN TO SEEK TREATMENT

Oftentimes, vertigo doesn’t really lead to anything serious. However, there are some cases that need the attention of a medical expert in chiropractic neurology. If you experience any of the signs or symptoms of vertigo, then you should probably go see a doctor or visit your local wellness clinic or chiropractic treatment center. With proper prescription medication, vertigo can be easily treated. So when you experience any of the following symptoms, you should go see your doctor immediately:

  • Double vision.
  • Difficulty speaking.
  • Difficulty walking.
  • Abnormal eye movements.
  • Not acting appropriately.
  • Weakness.

MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR VERTIGO

The treatments that will have to undertake would totally depend on the diagnosis your doctor gives. Usually, vertigo can be easily treated with the use of oral medicine, skin patch medicine or medicine given through an IV. More complex types of vertigo would require additional treatments and even a referral. These are:

  • Vertigo caused by the bacterial Infection of the middle ear. This type of vertigo would require additional antibiotics.
  • Vertigo caused by Meniere’s disease would require symptomatic treatments and the patients must be subjected to law salt diets and medication that would increase urine output.
  • Epley maneuvers. These involve sitting on the edge of a table and lying down to one side and doing the same for the other side until the vertigo ceases.
  • Particle repositioning maneuver. This maneuver involves the repositioning of the head to a position where the vertigo stops.

It is very important for one to take note of the signs of vertigo that call for immediate treatment and the vertigo treatments themselves. Understanding of these would help prevent future complications and problems involving vertigo.

To know how Vertigo Attacks

It’s a bright sunny day in Kankakee, Illinois and you’re enjoying a friendly beach volleyball match with your friends. All of the sudden, you feel that everything around you is moving and you find it really hard to maintain your balance. You’ve just been hit by a vertigo attack.

Vertigo attacks are common. Vertigo may attack you with the sudden feeling that you or your surrounding environment is moving. Vertigo is much more complicated and complex compared to a normal dizzy spell. Unlike these dizzy spells, vertigo can actually give you the illusion of movement. That is why even if everything is completely still you feel that you or your surroundings are moving.

When you feel that you yourself are moving, you’ve fallen victim to subjective vertigo. On the other hand, when you feel that your surroundings are moving, you’re experiencing objective vertigo.

Vertigo can be annoying and at times it can even be dangerous. For one to be able to know for sure if he is experiencing vertigo, it is important to understand the symptoms that come with it.

SYPMTOMS OF VERTIGO

First off, it should be made clear that the symptoms of vertigo should not be confused with any of the symptoms of lightheadedness, fainting, and motion sickness. Motion sickness is most thought to be similar to vertigo but it differs in a sense that motion sickness is a feeling of being out of balance because of repeated motions like riding a car or boat.

You know you have vertigo when you have the following symptoms:

  • Sensation of disorientation or motion.
  • Nausea.
  • Sweating.
  • Abnormal eye movements.
  • Potential hearing loss and ringing sensation in ears.
  • Potential visual disturbances and weaknesses.
  • Potential experience of speaking and walking difficulty.

These symptoms can be felt from minutes to hours. They can be constant or periodic and can be triggered by any movement or change in position.

When you go and see a Kankakee chiropractor to have your vertigo checked, it would be wise to tell him all the symptoms that you have observed. It would also be a good idea that when you go to any wellness clinics or chiropractic treatment centers and avail of their treatments, you should inform your doctor about any recent head trauma or any new medications you are taking.

Knowing the vertigo attacks symptoms will not only help you prepare for the attack itself, it can also help your doctor diagnose and treat you better.

Reasons why you should undergo Spinal Decompression

There are many instances where we put pressure on our spinal cord even if we do not intend to. We may be suffering from related conditions like bulging discs, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, and even pinched nerves that exert pressure on to our spine. To make matters even worse, poor posture and bad body mechanics contribute even more pressure to our spine.

When the pressure becomes too much, our backs begin to send us signals that it is in need of our attention and maybe even treatment. When we experience the following, we should go see a doctor to have our spines checked:

  • Back pain
  • An increased sensation in dermatome/overactive reflexes
  • Paralysis of limbs found below the level of compression/loss of sensory or motor functions
  • Difficulty in bladder and bowel movement

When diagnosed with spinal decompression, the treatment that your doctor would most likely offer you is spinal decompression. It is known to be a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment used to alleviate any disc pain found in the neck and back area. This is an FDA approved treatment that people choose as an alternative to surgery because it offers minimal to no risks at all.

The treatment is also very cost-effective. It doesn’t involve the use of any needles at all and there is no need to unclothe for the treatment to start and take process. Spinal decompression treatments, are performed directly and quickly.

Traditionally, surgery and chiropractic treatment services are used to correct compressed discs. However, the dawn of spinal decompression therapy has allowed people to try their hand at a less risky approach and still get the results that they need.

The spinal decompression process involves the patient being strapped down to a decompression table that applies force directly on to the main target area in the spine—the compressed disc. This distraction force is being controlled by a computer. It applies the force between intervals of relaxation.

What happens during the process is that the spine is being gently pulled apart. It elongates and creates a vacuum between the vertebrae that reshapes the discs. Each session would give you small results but they add up in time and with patience, your discs would totally reshape and heal themselves.

It is important to know when spinal decompression is needed so that you could avoid any complications that could arise from your spinal compression. In the presence of the above mentioned symptoms, it would be wise to go have your back checked right away and get a spinal decompression.

The benefits of Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment for disc pain radiating from the back and the neck. It is a treatment that aims to ease the pressure that is applied on one’s vertebrae and the spinal nerves that are close to it. Pain, the loss of sensory and motor functions, and overactive reflexes may result from great amounts of pressure applied on your spine.

When dealing with spinal compression, people can opt for two types of  Spinal Decompression Treatements. One is that they can undergo spinal decompression therapy—which is the spinal decompression discussed in this article. And the second option is that they can undergo spinal decompression surgery. More traditional people could resort to chiropractic treatment services. Of the three, spine decompression therapy is most preferred as there is no risk factor involved and because it is the most cost-effective.

Spine decompression therapy is proven to deliver great results to patients. It is FDA approved and people have considered this to be a great alternative for surgery and other chiropractic treatment services. It doesn’t involve any needles whatsoever. You would not even have to unclothe yourself for the therapy. One session wouldn’t take much of your time and you could go home feeling relieved and much better.

Spine decompression therapy works through a process that would involve the strapping down of the patient into a decompression table. The decompression table basically does all the work. It would begin to move and apply a distraction force to the compressed disc. The force that is applied on to the compressed disc is being controlled and monitored by a computer. The force is set to be applied between some periods of relaxation.

What basically happens during the spinal decompression process is that your spine is being gently pulled apart and elongated. This process would help the discs get back into shape as the vacuum created by the elongation of the spine pulls the discs in place.

For you to be able to enjoy its full effects and benefits, you would have to go through many sessions of spinal decompression therapy. The effects after each session are small, but they will gradually build up over time.

And you would begin to notice great changes in the feeling of your back. Your discs would reshape themselves and heal over time.
