Our team is dedicated to correctly diagnosing, treating and educating patients on Neurological Disorders. Ask Our Doctors if Functional Neurology is Right for You.
Just as in any other medical profession, there are specialties within the chiropractic profession. Chiropractic neurologists, through their education, training, and board certification, choose to limit their practice to a certain specialty in order to best diagnose and treat patients with a variety of conditions. Dr. Hoffman’s specialty is in neurology from the Carrick Institute. He serves in the same consulting manner as a medical neurologist but instead uses therapy and applications that do not include drugs or surgery. For more information on the Carrick Institute, please reference www.carrickinstitute.org.
We offer a drug free approach for those with learning disabilities. Dr. Hoffman implements a ground-breaking technique known as the Brain Balance program. This cutting edge technique works on imbalances between the right and left sides of the brain, which can affect every aspect of your health. Physical and cognitive activities, combined with nutritional changes are aimed at restoring harmony among the brain’s hemispheres. Patients with all of these concerns and more have been helped by chiropractic neurologists. We certainly cannot offer a cure for all who present these problems, but we provide profound improvement.
When you visit a chiropractic neurologist, a complete history will be taken. This includes your current concerns, past health, lifestyle, family, history, job, and nutrition. Next, a thorough neurological exam is performed. The intent is to test as many areas of the nervous system as possible. Dr. Hoffman wants to know if:
- An area is working or not
- It is stable, unstable, or sluggish
- It can be improved by using more healthy areas
- It can be used to add to areas needing improvement
Nerve cells need fuel and activation to thrive. Treatment is aimed at not only protecting these nerve cells but giving them the activation that they need. The following list of activities have been shown either by scientific research, past case study, or immediate pre and post testing to activate nerve cells.
- Specific adjustments to the joints
- Light, sound, smell, and touch
- Balance activities
- Oxygen therapy
- Nutrition
- Exercise
- Eye exercises
- Cognitive exercises
At Hoffman Chiropractic Neurology, a variety of treatment options are available to our patients. We offer balance track screenings, which is a great tool to not only test your balance or potential for a fall, but also for individuals who complain of dizziness, have a history of vestibular problems, been diagnosed with a balance disorder, or other significant health problems known to affect balance. Dr. Hoffman is Board Eligible in Vestibular Rehabilitation with the Carrick Institute of Neurology.
We also offer state-of-the-art, computerized program called Interactive Metronome. Interactive Metronome is a brain-based therapy and treatment tool that has been shown in clinical research to improve the neurological functions of motor planning and sequencing. These are core functions of the brain. They determine our ability to perform simple tasks from reaching out for a glass of water to arranging words in a sentence that makes sense. These and many other everyday functions result from the ability to motor plan and sequence. This is used for improvements of academic performance, focus, attention, and cognitive functions such as learning speed, memory retention, planning, and reaction time. Interactive Metronome also works well with athletes to obtain their winning edge.
